Lena A. Katzen - CEO Lena is a Co-Founder and the CEO of the company. As the majority shareholder, she is the woman behind our "woman-owned, small business" status. Lena has an extensive background in financial management and business planning. Her experience ranges from credit bureaus to a large office products business to start-up technology companies.

Since our inception she has guided the business. We started as a reseller of stand alone OCR and imaging products. We then grew with the technology to become an integrator of networked scanning systems, providing scanning hardware, software and customer support. Her leadership took us through that transition, as well as the more difficult one of becoming a document scanning service bureau. Our very competitive GSA schedule is largely a product of her skills and efforts.

She spends her time between homes in West Palm Beach, FL (too bad) and Bethesda, MD. Lena and Bob (CFO) have a great marriage - in both life and business.

John R. Solomon - President and COO John is a Co-Founder, the President and COO of our company. In 1988 he left a successful 15-year career at Xerox Corporation to help found Input Solutions, Inc. He joined Xerox right after college at the University of Maryland, with a degree in Business Management. His tenure there went from copier sales to the "tipping point" of facsimile technology and on to the early days of networked office systems. In 1981 he left the Xerox mainstream to join a small scanning company Xerox had just acquired - Kurzweil Computer Products, Inc. Only somewhat jokingly, John refers to himself as the "Scanning Fossil" because he has been involved in document scanning technology since the early days. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is one of his areas of concentration. He has given numerous speeches on that subject, and document scanning in general, at various national conferences. The depth and breath of his scanning knowledge and experience is almost unparalleled. In addition to his other responsibilities, he continues to work directly with a few clients, both large and small, to make sure he has his ear to the ground and finger on the pulse of the marketplace.

Robert (Bob) A. Katzen - CFO Bob is a Co-Founder and the CFO of Input Solutions, Inc. After receiving his accounting degree from the University of Maryland in only 3.5 years, he joined the corporate world as a cost accountant and analyst at Control Data Corporation. After CDC (which coincidentally manufactured one of the very first scanning systems), he became the Accounting Manager at an engineering firm, ARINC Research Corporation. For the past 20 years Bob has been responsible for Input's day-to-day financial and administrative operations. The combination of his wide ranging management and production expertise serves us well - especially in managing our scanning production operation. His strong work ethic and love for start-ups has recently driven him to spend time working with a good friend in launching an investment advisory firm. We sometimes think he has figured out how to squeeze more than 24 hours out of a day.

Partners and Friends

Lena, John and Bob started out as good friends. Together, they have gone through the ups and downs of owning a quickly changing technology business dating back to the early days of personal computers and pre-dating the everyday use of the Internet. Needless to say, there have been a few obstacles and challenges along the way. They remain strong business partners and have become even better friends.
