Cloud Computing refers to the use of application software which resides on the Internet, not on a local server. Users do not purchase software or maintenance agreements, they license the rights to use the Software-as-a-Service, or SaaS, offering from the vendor and their resellers. The Software-as-a-Service that Kaulkin Information Systems (KIS) and Input Solutions, Inc. offer is called KIS Track.

KIS Track is suite of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technologies. It allows the storage and retrieval of virtually any type of data-scanned documents, word processing files, spreadsheets, engineering drawings and etc. KIS Track is both a relational and a full text retrieval database. As a relational database it allows users to retrieve information based on index fields (also referred to as metadata). There is no limit to the number or type of index fields. The fields for any given application will vary greatly based on the nature and type of files stored. As an example, a medical practice application might store information by patient name, date of birth, patient ID and so forth. A database containing engineering drawings might use project name, engineer's name, drawing title and drawing number as the index fields.

KIS Track is also a full text retrieval database. Imagine being able to access any document containing any word, name or phrase almost instantly. In other words, you can "Google®" your own documents!

The ability to retrieve documents based on a search of index fields or full text allows users to very quickly drill down through large amounts of data and find the exact information they need.

KIS Track is more than just a database—there are additional modules offered by KIS and Input Solutions, Inc. that allow the user to set up and perform workflow applications using Trackflow. Trackflow is amazingly easy to set up, modify and use.

Another KIS Track module is Trackmail. If you need to retain and find emails easily, Trackmail is the right application. This application reaches into your Microsoft Exchange server and gathers all of the email and indexes it by To, From, Subject and Date. Of course it also makes the content of the emails full text searchable - including the attachments! Trackmail also provides a user-based lexicon feature which will notify the client when emails contain words in their lexicon. This feature is especially valuable when regulatory compliance or other email tracking needs exist.
